In Switzerland, the incomparable ‘CALIDA feeling’ has long been legendary. Here, our underwear has been worn by - and over - generations for over 80 years. We also believe in the tried and tested: revolutionary classics such as our cuffed pyjamas and our Elastic bodywear are more in tune with the times than ever. We stay ahead of the times - with innovations that continue to set new standards in terms of quality and comfort.
1941 – The beginning:
Max Kellenberger and Hans Joachim Palmers found CALIDA in Sursee (CH), where the headquarters remain to this day.
1957 – The first big innovation:
The pyjamas with the ingenious waistband make CALIDA famous outside of Swiss borders.
1965 – Seamless underwear:
The seamless women’s briefs give the wearer a slender silhouette – and CALIDA its next big success.
1999 - Ahead of the times:
CALIDA develops its first ecological and environmental balance.
2013 – First items made from TENCEL™:
The breathable, temperature-regulating natural fibres are introduced in daywear for the first time.
2016 - Transparent Traceability:
CALIDA is the first underwear brand worldwide to introduce the “OEKO-TEX® MADE IN GREEN” label.
2018 – Circularity:
CALIDA launches the first circular shirt on the market – made from TENCEL™ and Cradle to Cradle Certified ®.
2019 – AMBER VITTORIA x CALIDA:
CALIDA presents a new Capsule Collection in collaboration with the New Yorker illustrator Amber Vittoria.
2020 – VIKTOR&ROLF x CALIDA:
The first cradle-to-cradle design co-operation with the Haute Couture luxury label VIKTOR&ROLF is launched in spring 2020.
2021 – Yellowbration:
With a new version of our most popular classics, we celebrate 80 years of CALIDA – 80 years of unique quality.
2023 – DEEPSLEEPWEAR:
CALIDA DEEPSLEEPWEAR combines the best of over 80 years of Swiss sleepwear expertise to create a uniquely good sleeping experience in all climatic conditions.
2024 – From little to no waste:
CALIDA replaces sleepwear packaging with re-usable laundry bags made from 100% recycled PET.
